ClimateWorks Australia Submission to the Review of Australia's climate change policies [PDF 1.47 MB]

ClimateWorks' submission to the review of Australia's climate change policies outline the importance of a target of net zero emissions by 2050. Our submission draws on engagement with key stakeholders, as well as our extensive research, which demonstrates we can reach net zero emissions while growing employment and our economy. The submission also makes the case that while delay and policy uncertainty will increase costs, a net zero by 2050 target, as part of a long-term plan, enables an effective transition.

ClimateWorks Australia Submission to the Independent Review into the Future Security of the National Electricity Market [PDF 435.56 KB]

This submission draws on existing research, including ClimateWorks’ and Australian National University’s seminal report, ‘Pathways to Deep Decarbonisation in 2050’. The submission makes three key points: the electricity sector has a key role to play in achieving deep decarbonisation, energy efficiency and demand response can contribute significantly in delivering on the energy trilemma, and it is important to reform National Electricity Market governance and have appropriate policy setting to achieve a timely transition.

Plug and Play [PDF 840.51 KB]

ClimateWorks Australia and Seed Advisory’s Plug and Play project identifies institutional and policy solutions to make grid connections for new technologies as straightforward and cost effective as possible, while safeguarding electricity security. This paper outlines the findings from the first stage of the project where we have looked at the current connection requirements and processes and the barriers and unnecessary costs they impose on the connection of low emission technologies to the electricity network.

Pathways to Deep Decarbonisation in 2050: How Australia can prosper in a low carbon world [PDF 3.88 MB]

The full 'Pathways to Deep Decarbonisation in 2050: How Australia can prosper in a low carbon world' report prepared by ClimateWorks and released 23 September 2014, presents an illustrative deep decarbonisation pathway for Australia – just one of many possible pathways – developed using a combination of well-established modelling tools to identify feasible and least-cost options.
